Audio from the first day of a Travis County District Court hearing in Texas Hemp Business Council et al. v. Texas Department of State Health Services et al, Cause No. D-1-GN-26-002511. This happened on April 28, 2026.
The Texas hemp industry is seeking a temporary injunction on some of the hemp rules adopted by the state's health department. KUT News obtained court permission to record the proceedings.
Testimony and arguments during Day 1 included discussion of THCA and Delta-9 THC, the difference between agricultural and commercial hemp regulations and the state's rulemaking authority.
At around the 4 hour, 16 minute mark, the audio cuts out when batteries died on my recorder. Apologies for the gap in audio.
